The Best of Off-Roading Summer 2018
This summer we decided it was time to diversify our adventures. So Jake, Bruno & I spontaneously road tripped to Michigan to pick up a new toy. Our 30+ hour road trip (in two days) included several luxury accommodations at local truck stops with popcorn dinners, trail mix breakfasts (the m&m kind…) & an abundance of blankets for Mr. Bruno Buttcheeks to bundle.
Our new toy, the Canam Maverick X3 Max, (dubbed the ‘Mountain Ferrari’) has been the most magical off-roading mobile! It has been such a cool experience becoming a part of the NH ATV community & exploring the 1,000+ miles of trail riding through rugged forest, mountain tops, waterfalls & so much more!
Below are some of my favorite memories from this summer, cruising through the mountains, meeting new friends & exploring new territory in beautiful New Hampshire.
THE FIRST FEW RIDES: Into the unknown we go…
WITH THE SQUAD: The more the merrier - this is the reason we got a 4 seater. We rode trails through the mountains for 11 hours, taking turns ripping through mud puddles, celebrating at dead ends & making it back in time for a magical summit sunset. Grateful for days, moments & friends like these.
We also popped a tire on descent, broke the seal too soon, went through a car wash because we were that dirty, almost flipped multiple times (courtesy @agierej 🍄) & topped everything off with a campfire feast! #squadgoals
JERICHO ATV FESTIVAL: Not gonna lie, I was nervous. When I think of an ATV festival I envision mud wrestling, hillbillies & an abundance of mud. While I wasn’t too far off, it was such a blast with good energy all around! We faced torrential downpour, tornado warnings & a completely flooded campsite but it was one for the books. Just ask my brother…
After the storm, this view + ice cold brewskis made it all worth it.
WITH THE PUPS: After this summer, Bruno is definitely a seasoned ATVer. He loves it all - the wind blowing through his hairs, the compliments from other riders & off course, rockin’ his sweet gear.
This trip in particular was extra special because Cocoa (my family’s pup) joined us for the ride. About 6 months ago, Cocoa was given 3-6 months to live due to heart failure which is common in Cavaliers. It’s been super sad seeing his condition slow him down over the last few months so I wanted him to experience something new. I had a feeling he would love ATVing because of his love for the outdoors & road trips. It was a total success…
There you have it, my favorite off-roading Summer 2018 memories! While summer is coming to an end, our adventures continue. Stay tuned for more on our upcoming fall cross-country road trip to Utah, Colorado & more! I will be documenting the entire trip from camping to off-roading & everything in between!
Happy Trails!
